Yesterday, the whole school had a wonderful time looking for Easter eggs, which had been hidden all over the school grounds. Everybody joined in, with older children helping the younger ones. A special Thank You! to the Friends of Clunbury School for supplying all the eggs :)
We are coming to the end of a fantastic few days at Arthog! Yesterday, in the bright Welsh sunshine, the children enjoyed scrambling on the rocks and climbing on the Barmouth slabs with ropes and harnesses. The views across the estuary were magnificent! Our stay at Arthog has been fantastic so far and we have crammed in lots of activities already! Yesterday, we began our afternoon with some team building activities followed by a dip in the sea and an ascent of the gorge. In the evening, we went for a spectacular night walk with the sunset over Barmouth.
We celebrated a postponed WBD yesterday and it was wonderful. Lots of fantastic literary character costumes and many others dressed ready for a bedtime story. On a beautiful, sunny Friday, the whole school took part in a mini X country fundraiser, in preparation for the Great Athlete Event happening next week. First they spent time properly warming up ... Then they began running laps around the sports and Forest School fields. Every child from nursery to Year 6, ran as many laps as they possible could...
Last week, Class 1 learnt all about the Chinese New Year celebrations and traditions. They also performed their very own Chinese New Year Dragon Dance. They danced through each classroom to the tune of banging pots and saucepans.
This week, we took 2 teams (made up of children from years 4, 5 and 6), to a dodgeball tournament held at Church Stretton Leisure Centre. Out of 19 teams taking part, one of our teams came a fantastic 3rd! Earning themselves a bronze medal :) Well done guys!

Well Done Team Clunbury! Last week, our Y3/4 football team took part in a tournament at Ludlow Football Club. After some fabulous games against 4 other local primary schools, Clunbury came a fantastic second place. This was the teams first tournament against some tough opposition and they did us proud :)
Another successful Christmas Fayre this year! The children had a wonderful time designing their games and then trying them out. A huge amount of work goes into making the fayre a success with many people involved. A big Thank You and Well Done to everyone who helped to make it so much fun and so very festive!
On Tuesday, the children in years 5 and 6 children from across the federation came together to take part in a creative writing workshop with professional writers from the Hurst in Clun. The children thoroughly enjoyed using their own pets as inspiration to create a fantastical animal adventure!
A fantastic day of raft building and rock scrambling at Arthog before returning home! Thank you to the professional and experienced Arthog staff for a truly brilliant few days, creating memories which will remain with the year six children for years to come.
The year sixes from across the federation have had a fantastic time so far on their weekend residential to Arthog. From beach art work, evening hike, canoeing, gorge walking, delicious food and amazing company, the children have had such a wonderful time so far. The smiles haven't left their faces!
