During the week beginning the 7th October 2024, the whole school took part in ‘The Kindness Challenge’. Right from Pre-school to Class 3, we saw children going that extra mile to help other children, ask questions to find out about the interests of children they might not know as well and help to keep our school tidy. We heard so many children saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ and listen extra carefully to both adults and other children. One child was even heard commenting that there were not enough doors in our school as every time they went to hold a door open for someone, someone else had already beaten them to it! It was wonderful to see that many children extended this challenge to showing kindness outside of school too through activities such as, caring for our planet and helping elderly neighbours. The kindness rocks that have been made and added to our outdoors area are a lovely memento of this great week.
A huge thank you to all those people who have donated money to celebrate the achievements of everyone through the week. All of the money raised will go towards the wonderful work of the NSPCC and their Childline appeal. We are very lucky in our school as we have wonderful children who show kindness each and every day and know that although ‘The Kindness Challenge’ has finished, they will continue to help others and show kindness at St Mary’s School and within our community.
