We believe that the teaching of a foreign language encourages children’s curiosity and deepens their understanding of the wider world. This includes opportunities to hear and read in French and enables them to express themselves in speech and writing. It also provides a stimulus to learn other languages and equips them to study and work in other countries in the future
St Mary's Primary have developed a successful link with a primary school near Nantes and each child within Upper Key Stage Two has a penpal with whom to communicate with and develop their french language skills. We will be looking to extend this opoprtunity to the other schools in our Federation in the near future!
